Inclined rack for totes and cartons for picking
Picking is a key stage in order preparation. The term "picking" literally means "gathering". For the operator, picking consists in fetching the items in an order from stock and assembling them in the packing area, where they are then packaged before being dispatched. Picking is a key factor in reducing order preparation times. Optimize order picking and production line supply with our Prospace+ inclined racking solution.
What is inclined shelving for picking?
Inclined shelving involves fitting your racks with inclined shelves. In concrete terms, the front and rear longitudinal members are offset by 2 steps, i.e. 80mm. This is a low-cost dynamic racking solution for light storage. This solution is ideally suited to the storage of plastic bins, cardboard bins and spare parts with European standard bins. This type of equipment is used in conjunction with the FIFO (First In First Out) storage method. The use of inclined shelving offers a number of advantages, not least time savings in order picking, and a reduced risk of work-related accidents.
Optimize warehouse picking with inclined shelving
The use of inclined shelving, very practical in the world of logistics and e-commerce, facilitates the picking of components from bins placed on the shelves. This shelving solution improves visibility of the parts and components required for production at the line edge. As a result, operators can pick products more quickly, which saves a considerable amount of time. So you can boost your warehouse's performance with inclined racking.
Prevent the risk of picking-related RSI
As order picking is essentially a manual activity, it is highly exposed to the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). In fact, according to INRS, the number of work-related accidents in order picking is well above the French average, and even higher than in the building and public works sector. Picking exposes operators to a high risk of pathologies such as lumbago and tendonitis. This is why logistics operators need to take steps to improve the ergonomics of their order-picking processes.
The installation of inclined shelving is the answer to this problem: products are more accessible thanks to the inclination, which naturally causes them to slide forward. This eliminates the need to pull bins or cartons to access products accumulated at the bottom. This reduces the need for manual handling, thus reducing the risk of RSI, as well as improving comfort for your staff.
